Vaccine Policy

Dear Bayside Pediatrics Parents,

Given the significant increase in vaccine preventable disease and the dangers unvaccinated children pose to some of our most vulnerable patients we can no longer accommodate families who delay or refuse to vaccine their children. This policy will be in effect immediately.

We know, and want you to know, that the recommended vaccines and their schedule are the results of years and years of scientific study and research, with data gathered on millions of children, by thousands of our brightest scientist and physicians.

We understand that there has always been, and will likely always be, discussion surrounding vaccinations, but that discussion does not change the facts, the science, or the evidence about vaccines.  The safety and effectiveness of vaccines is a wonderful thing – many of you have never seen a child with polio, tetanus, whooping cough, bacterial meningitis, or even chickenpox. We write this statement not to scare you or coerce you but to make you aware of the facts and to emphasize the importance of vaccinating your child.

Please understand that delaying or “breaking up” vaccines over multiple visits goes against expert recommendations and can put your child at risk for serious illness or even death.  These alternate vaccine schedules go against both our medical advice and our principles at Bayside Pediatrics.  Should you choose these options, you will be asked to sign a “Refusal to Vaccinate” acknowledgement.  If you refuse to adhere to the vaccination schedule, we will ask you to find another health care provider who shares your views.

As medical professionals, we know that vaccinating children on schedule with currently available vaccines is absolutely the right thing to do for all children and  young adults.

We are always happy to answer any questions you may have about the vaccines that are given.

Sincerely,

Bayside Pediatrics Providers and Management

Adolescent and Pediatric Psychiatry

Adolescent and Pediatric Psychiatry

We at Bayside Pediatrics recognize that parents are usually the first to notice that their child is struggling with emotions or behavior and the decision to seek psychiatric help can be difficult. Pediatricians are the first line of defense for child/adolescent mental health issues. However, many children need the expertise of an experienced child/adolescent psychiatrist. As pediatricians, we are often asked to give the same amount of time to a simple ear infection as to a complicated behavioral concern.

Bayside Pediatrics offers a co-location of psychiatry services to allow for a soft hand off of a patient who is in need of specialized mental health services.

Dr. Labellarte has extensive experience in the medical and psychiatric community. He is sought out within the physician community for his extensive knowledge of psychopharmacological safety and efficacy of medication. Dr. Labellarte is an expert in specific disorders that appear during childhood, including anxiety disorders, attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), autism spectrum disorders, bipolar disorder, chronic fatigue syndrome, depression, learning disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), Tourette’s disorder, and behavioral problems. He has experience working with therapists, schools, and the court system in order to generate the correct treatment plans for each individual patient.

For Adolescent and Pediatric Psychiatry appointments, Dr. Labellarte does NOT participate with ANY insurance.

Behavioral/Developmental Health

Behavioral/Developmental Health

Pediatricians encounter a broad range of emotional, developmental and behavioral problems on a daily basis. At Bayside Pediatrics we are especially tuned into the mental health needs of the children, adolescents, and families that we care for, and try to address concerns as they arise. We see our role in identifying, treating and referring children to the appropriate resources as critical to providing excellent pediatric care.

Many behavioral issues can be best understood in the context of the child’s developmental level, and while the symptoms may be serious enough to disrupt your family’s life, they may not be serious enough to warrant a diagnosis of a specific emotional disorder. We are able to help sort out which problems need more intense interventions and can help link you to the appropriate resources in the community.

There are clear benefits to the early identification and initiation of interventions for a wide variety of childhood mental health issues. Since, as your pediatrician, we are closely involved in your child’s life across the years, we have a unique opportunity to address early the problems that, if unresolved, can lead to significant mental health problems later in life. If you call for an appointment to address specific behavioral or developmental concerns we can schedule a visit that gives us sufficient time to adequately discuss your concerns.

Open House

Open House

At Bayside Pediatrics, we know that picking the right doctor you’re your baby can be an overwhelming decision. You will be at the doctor’s office at least six times in the first year for routine well-baby visits, so deciding before the baby arrives will allow you to make an informed and careful choice.

In hopes to ease this overwhelming feeling, Bayside currently offers virtual ‘Meet & Greet’ appointments with one of our 8 providers, free of charge. These appointments can be scheduled according to doctor availability and your schedule. You will be given the opportunity to have many of your questions and concerns answered, such as:

  • When will the doctor or nurse practitioner first see my baby?
  • What diseases are babies screened for at birth?
  • What is our stance on immunizations?
  • When and whether to circumcise?
  • How to prevent sibling rivalry?

We also welcome parents and patients who would like to transfer into our practice to schedule a virtual ‘Meet & Greet’ appointment. Please contact our office at 410-224-7667 to schedule now!
